Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before submitting your Application. If you have any queries, we can be contacted by phone on 0871 472 3020 or by email at applications@enterprisingscience.com.

General
  1. By applying to Enterprising Science to participate in the Programme, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
  2. For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, Enterprising Science,‘we’ and ‘us’ mean the parties who operate the Programme, namely BP International Limited ("BP") and NMSI Trading Limited (the "Science Museum"). ‘You’ means the school applying to participate in the Programme.
  3. We reserve the right at any time to change these, or impose further, Terms and Conditions.
Application process
  1. Applications must be submitted online by completing the application form available on the Enterprising Science website www.enterprisingscience.com.
  2. Applications submitted by any other means shall not be considered unless prior written permission has been given by us.
  3. The information you provide in your Application must be correct to the best of your knowledge. You warrant that you are entitled to send us all details relating to your Application.
  4. By submitting your Application, you agree, should your Application be successful, to fulfil the requirements detailed in the Guidance for participating schools (as set out on the Enterprising Science website, subject to any amendments which may be agreed in writing between us) and to send one Science teacher to attend your regional Talk Science masterclass.
  5. By submitting your Application, you agree to provide us, in advance of our visit to your school, with all relevant information regarding security and health and safety whilst on your site, as well as any special needs of your students.
  6. We will endeavour to accommodate all reasonable requests to vary any of our requirements listed in the Trading Challenge guidance for participating schools where necessary to accommodate the reasonable needs of individual institutions and/or students. Such variations shall be entirely at our discretion and are required to be agreed in writing.
  7. We will only consider Applications from UK schools (i.e. single institutions in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) and the Trading Challenge roadshow is most appropriate for pupils aged between 14 and 19, inclusive.
  8. Only one Application may be submitted per institution.
  9. Successful applicants shall be selected in accordance with the criteria set out in Selection Criteria below.
  10. Applicants shall be notified in writing if their Application is successful and their participation in the Programme shall be subject to the receipt by us of a completed and duly signed and dated ‘Terms and Conditions’ (subject to any amendments which may be agreed in writing between us and the relevant applicant). Following such receipt by us, we shall issue written confirmation of participation in the Programme.

  12. By submitting your Application, you agree to take part in any publicity generated from your participation in the Programme. This material must be submitted via the Enterprising Science website (www.enterprisingscience.com).
Participation
  1. Each school whose Application is successful will receive one visit from the Trading Challenge roadshow team and a place for one teacher at a regional Talk Science session (on dates to be confirmed by us upon confirmation of an Application being successful). Both modules of the Programme shall be provided free of charge. However, any transport, teacher cover costs or any other costs or expenses arising from or in connection with your participation in the Programme shall be your sole responsibility and none of Enterprising Science, the Science Museum or any member of the BP group shall have any liability for any such costs or expenses.
  2. Any prizes provided during the Trading Challenge roadshow shall be awarded at the discretion of the roadshow leaders.
  3. We reserve the right at any time to change the number of places available in, or the nature of, the Programme, or to reschedule events as we deem appropriate.
  4. Without prejudice to anything in these Terms and Conditions, participation in the Programme shall be entirely at your risk and none of Enterprising Science, the Science Museum or any member of the BP group shall have any liability to any applicant or participant in the Programme.
  5. We will report any incidents of theft of, or damage to, any of our equipment, or any threats against, or assault on, any roadshow leaders whilst on your premises to the police.
  6. We will endeavour to accommodate all reasonable requests to vary the delivery of the Trading Challenge roadshow to meet the needs of individual mainstream UK schools and their students. However, as we do not have specialist resources, such variations shall be at our discretion, applying the same resources as those applied in delivering the roadshow to all schools. Selection criteria
  1. Our intention is to make up to 266 places available for the Programme for the 2009–10 academic year.
  2. We will invite schools in different regions (selected having regard to the criteria set out above) to participate and will endeavour to award places on the Programme on a first-come, first-served basis. However, we reserve the right to consider geographical clustering and proximity, or other practicalities, in the selection process in order to facilitate our delivery of the Programme.
  3. We reserve the right to give priority to applications to participate in both modules of the Programme.
  4. In the event of the Programme being over-subscribed, our selection will be guided by principles of fairness, diversity and inclusion, having regard to criteria such as:
    1. Ethnic profile;
    2. Socio-economic conditions;
    3. Rural or urban location;
    4. Gender of students;
    5. Attainment status – higher or lower-achieving; and
    6. State or independent status.
Cancellation
  1. Should you wish to withdraw your Application before you have been allocated a place, please contact us by phone on 0871 472 3020 or by email at applications@enterprisingscience.com.
  2. If you wish to cancel your participation in the Programme following your Application being successful or your participation being confirmed, please contact us by phone on 0871 472 3020 or by email at applications@enterprisingscience.com at least one week prior to the earlier of (i) your Trading Challenge roadshow day and (ii) your regional Talk Science session. Cancellation shall apply to both modules of the Programme as cancellation of only one module (Trading Challenge Roadshow or Talk Science) is not permitted.
  3. The health and safety of the Trading Challenge roadshow leaders is paramount and we reserve the right to cancel a roadshow on the day should any roadshow leader feel threatened or at risk for any reason, or if the behaviour of any pupil(s) at the school is deemed by any roadshow leader to be inappropriate.
  4. In the unlikely event that unforeseen circumstances require us to cancel either or both of the Programme modules on the dates you have been allocated, we will endeavour to reschedule your participation. However, no compensation will be offered should such rescheduling not occur for any reason and none of Enterprising Science, the Science Museum or any member of the BP group shall have any liability to you.
The www.enterprisingscience.com website
  1. The following terms and conditions are subject to your Application to Enterprising Science being successful and your participation in the Programme not being cancelled or terminated for any reason.
  2. You agree to having the name and address of your school displayed on the Map of Schools and in your school’s ‘space’ on the Website.
  3. After the Trading Challenge roadshow you agree to us displaying the results of your day (a photo, and quote/s on the Website.
  4. Definitions
  1. Application means an application by a school to participate in the Programme, validly submitted in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
  2. Programme means Enterprising Science, comprising two modules, the Trading Challenge roadshow and Talk Science teacher training.
