Enterprising Science can help you raise standards in Science, Maths and Enterprise, and develop your teachers' skills
Enterprising Science is a free two-part education programme from BP.
Its components are:
- a place for one teacher to attend Talk Science – an innovative master class for Science teachers
- a visit from the Carbon Challenge roadshow – an inspirational Science, Maths and Enterprise roadshow for students, delivered in two two-hour sessions at your school.
What Enterprising Science can do for you
Enterprising Science is an opportunity to:
- support a Science teacher at your school to develop his/her skills
- work towards raising standards in Science, Maths and Enterprise
- take a step towards the goals of Building Schools for the Future, the Sustainable Schools Framework, Learning for our Future (Scotland) and the Curriculum for Excellence (Scotland).
Talk Science
Talk Science will help your Science department make the most of the latest developments in the Science curriculum. The one-day master class provides innovative tools and techniques to inspire dialogue around contemporary science topics. Teachers return to school full of ideas to share with their colleagues.
The Carbon Challenge roadshow
The Carbon Challenge roadshow offers your students a topical, hands-on and curriculum-relevant educational experience. Students learn about school carbon emissions and how to reduce them. They end the day motivated to:
- learn more about Science, Maths and Enterprise
- get involved in reducing emissions at your school.
What we need from you
Enterprising Science is absolutely free. All we ask is your commitment to:
- release one member of staff for one day to attend a regional Talk Science master class
- host a visit from the Carbon Challenge roadshow and provide appropriate space and staff supervision.
Full details are available in Terms and Conditions. You can check when we will be in your region in Tour dates.
After the visit we also encourage your school to visit and update their school’s page on our Map of schools as a record of their day and their commitment to carbon reduction.
