Inspiring teachers…
All schools whose applications for Enterprising Science are successful will be invited to attend a regional Talk Science teacher training day. Talk Science is a series of master classes from the Science Museum for secondary school Science teachers across the UK. Their purpose is to share innovative tools and techniques to engage and inspire dialogue around contemporary science topics.
What happens on the Talk Science teacher training day?
The Talk Science teacher training days are being held at a variety of science centres and venues across the country. The day allows teachers to actively explore how to construct and run ‘discussion and debate’ events for the classroom. The course draws on the vast experience of staff at the Science Museum’s Dana Centre, a venue that was purpose-built for science discussion.
Topics covered in the session include event formats, powerful questions, planning ‘discussion and debate’ lessons, facilitation skills, and mystery presents. The day concludes with work in small groups, in which teachers prepare their own discussion lesson to take away and use at school. Lunch and refreshments are also included.
Our Map of schools also includes the locations of the Talk Science venues.
